The River Rouge Manufacturing Complex. The principal bit of material I assembled was an image by means of the web. This picture is of the River Rouge get together plant in Dearborn, Michigan. This picture shows the assembling of the bumper for a Ford Motor Company item. It likewise shows the offices of the Rouge plant and how the plant it self was best in class. This plant was the biggest of its sort at the hour of its development. The Passage Motor Company at the time was one of the pioneers in labor relations. This picture shows the size of the plant just as the working conditions in the office. When seeing the photo you can see the variety of channels and assortment gadgets to help in the flow of air and the assortment of residue and other results made in the plant. The following part I discovered is another image of the inside of the Rouge plant. This image is one of numerous transport lines in the plant. Henry Ford was a pioneer in the utilization of the mechanical production system in the vehicle business, and the Rouge plant was a definitive in that utilization of the sequential construction system. Blog Archive MBA News Changes at the Indian School of Business It pays to be in touch with the Indian School of Business (ISB). This morning, the ISBâs admissions committee reached out to let us know about some changes that are afoot. First, the schools Class of 2012 includes a record number of women167 of 573, or 29% of the total classa slight increase from last yearâs 28%. The question is, when the ISBs Mohali campus opens next year and the class size expands to 770 students, will the percentage of women stay the same? In the Class of 2012, 13 countries are represented, including Spain, Russia, Australia, Thailand and Nepal, belying the myth that the ISB is only for Indian students. Another myth? At the ISB, only the GMAT matters. Just like at most top North American programs, the ISBâs average GMAT is 710. In fact, more than just stats, the ISBâs admissions committee is seeking diversity, proven by the fact that in the Class of 2012, you will find film directors, poets, dancers, sky divers, and even Indias first audiobook author and a commander in the Indian Naval Force. Lucid Dreaming and Consciousness Free Essay Example, 2000 words
Moreover, they can carry out various actions and make commands since they are in control of the dream in the early phases. However, the person may get deeper in sleep and lose control of the dream. This loss of control is the boundary between lucid and non-lucid dreaming. After an episode of lucid dreaming, it is possible that an individual contributes to the waking memory. A lucid dream is considered a twin transfer of memories and experiences between the two worlds at different times. After an individual experiences lucid dreams repeatedly for a certain amount of time, the body system adjusts. The adjustment is such that it settles on these dreams and can recall them even when in the state of awareness (Tadas, 2014). These dreams form a solid and complex structure. The structure created is stable and independent and is the lucid dream context. This context has two main roles in the life of a person. One of the responsibilities is serving as a general contextual structure that receives information from both experiences and anticipated experiences and forming them to create a lucid dream that is easily recognized by a person. We will write a custom essay sample on Lucid Dreaming and Consciousness or any topic specifically for you Only $17.96 $11.86/pageorder now The other responsibility is serving as a stable free context for the waking individual. When a person wakes up from a dream, it is normal to have a lot of confusion because one does not know whether he was recalling a past experience or it was just a dream and nothing of the sort ever happened. For the lucid dreamers that get deep into a dream, they may have dreams that do not appeal to them and the consequent of this is their waking up with paranoia unsure of the future. It is thus the responsibility of the lucid dream context to separate the reality from the dream and consequently calm the individual under duress (Blackmore, 2013). With this latter responsibility, one gets to understand that lucid dreaming is a skill that an individual has the ability to master. Upon having a certain trend in dreaming, the lucid dream context sets this dream into the brain record and the individual has the ability to understand his character even better. Upon rep eated behavior of a certain kind, an individual has the ability to control his actions when in a lucid dream. The distinction between lucid and non-lucid dreams is the fact there is a contextual structure present in their bodies that forms because of continued dreaming. Lucid dreams have one structure that bears all the memories and thus the reason why such a dreamer has the ability to recall some vital information witnessed in the dream (Frenzel, 2012).

AHAB in moby dick Essay - 969 Words
Although Ahabââ¬â¢s insanity appears to be what shuts him off from humanity, in reality it is what makes him human. Ahab desperately wants to be freed from his obsession ââ¬â to not have to rely upon it to feel. It is because Ahab is no longer in control of his obsession that the reader eventually discovers that besides what the book originally seems to insinuate, Ahab is only human. The first few times that Ahab is introduced to the reader and to his crew, he appears to be inhuman. Even his description when he first appears on deck states that he ââ¬Å"seemed made of solid bronzeâ⬠(Melville 117). To compare him to a statue is to distance him from humanity ââ¬â he is not a breathing, emotional being. However, as the book continues, it becomes blatantlyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦How he acts towards his crew, for example, appears to be out of a jealously ââ¬â they are whole and he is not. For this reason, he feels that he must make up for it by being stronger and more powerful than they are. He tries to control the men, for if he can control them then he is greater than they are, though they are complete and he is not. Although Ahab may overpower the men, he cannot overpower the universe, a fact which deeply perturbs him. He refuses to accept the infinite, instead choosing to challenge it. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢d strike the sun if it insulted meâ⬠(Melville 157). He refuses to admit that he is below anyone, or anything, because to do so would only validate the fact that he is not in control. Not only does Ahab lash out against universal objects, he is completely blasphemous. Elijah tells of how Ahab had desecrated a church and spit in some sort of sacred object, but it is through Ahabââ¬â¢s own words that his complete disregard towards God is shown. This blasphemous behavior is definitely a major aspect of Ahabââ¬â¢s insanity and it also connects him to his biblical counterpart, King Ahab. King Ahab worshipped strange gods and always made sure to go against the God of Israel. It seems as though Ahab mirrors this behavior in the book, saying, ââ¬Å"Whoââ¬â¢s over me? Truth has no confinesâ⬠(Melville 157). In the eyes of the deeply religious Starbuck, this blatant disregard for God demonstrates how insane Ahab is, for no man would dare to threatenShow MoreRelated Captain Ahab and Moby Dick Essay1234 Words à |à 5 Pages Captain Ahab and Moby Dick: Literary critics point to a variety of themes and juxtapositions when analyzing Herman Melvilles ââ¬Å"Moby Dickâ⬠. The Basement Room, By Graham Greene - 1091 Words
Maya Angelou once said, ââ¬Å"We are only as blind as we want to be.â⬠This is not referring to literal blindness, but instead to the human tendency of to ignore, or ââ¬Å"be blind to,â⬠the consequences of their actions in relation to the good of other people. Renowned author Graham Greene explores this theme from what some people believe to be a Christian perspective in his many of his works. Although two of Graham Greeneââ¬â¢s short stories, ââ¬Å"The Basement Roomâ⬠and ââ¬Å"The Destructors,â⬠are neither clearly redemptive or biblical, it is very possible that the stories are written from a Christian worldview because of their parallels to the nature and consequences of sin, and Greeneââ¬â¢s criticism of selfish human behavior. ââ¬Å"The Basement Roomâ⬠has severalâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Old Misery, a lonely old man who lives in a singular house in the middle of bomb ruins, and his beloved home represent an innocent victim deceived by an evil force. He explains his plan to his friends, saying, ââ¬Å"ââ¬ËWeââ¬â¢ll destroy itâ⬠¦ Weââ¬â¢d do it from inside. Iââ¬â¢ve found a way inâ⬠¦ When we came out again thereââ¬â¢d be nothing thereâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (ââ¬Å"Destructorsâ⬠4). T. and his plan clearly parallel the effects of Satan on humans. Old Misery, like any other unsuspecting victim would, unknowingly lets a source of evil into his home. Once inside, T. learns the weaknesses of the place and figures out exactly how to ruin it, similarly to how all humans can be killed by their weaknesses. Old Misery never did anything against the boy. Instead, he acted kindly towards T . when he welcomes him inside. Like Satan, T. is aggressive and angry in nature, and feels prompted to completely sabotage Old Miseryââ¬â¢s life for his own personal enjoyment. Reflection of Mary Rowlandsons Captivity free essay sample
It was difficult for me reading the story that was told about Mary Rowlandsonââ¬â¢s Captivity. I have read so many stories about all of the awful things that have been done to the Indians; it surprised me I guess to here the reverse and all the cruelty that was taking place. I am sorry it is three pages also, I could have written so much more. The details of the morning invasion on Maryââ¬â¢s home and with forty-two people inside, the Indians set her home on fire, and shot at them when they tried to exit the home.It was so descriptive, and that Mary herself wrote the events made it feel that much more real to me. The bravery Mary showââ¬â¢s trying to unlatch the heavy door to leave the home while being shot at, and the attempt to get the six dogs to wake, that were supposed to protect them were useless. Pg2 (ââ¬Å"None of them would stir,â⬠said Mary, ââ¬Å"though another time, if any Indian had come to the door, they were ready to fly upon him and tear him down. â⬠) I liked how this was put, and told, and how it states that it was significant because the Puritans should rely on God alone not on dogs.Mary bravely; was the first to get the door open and the first to get out the door of the home, while being shot at carrying her youngest child, Sarah. Following close behind were men, who were being butchered as they ran out, either by gun shots, or slathered by hatchets. She was surrounded by the bodies of neighbors and relatives. I was taken back, at the picture in my mind while reading, how she could have watched her three children get taken prisoner from her and sent off in all directions and everyone she loved die around her. Yet she still continued to fight to stay alive. How many people would do that?Mary was married to Joseph Rowlandson and they married in 1656, and had four children together, the first died in infancy, then Joseph, Mary, and Sarah. I thought it was interesting how the children were named after both the mother and the father. In some cultures it is forbidden to use the same exact name as a person who is still living, in fear that God, may take the wrong person by accident. The book said that this was however; was a common practice looking at their genealogical imprints of the Massachusetts frontier. All of those names were very common and no doubt taken from the bible.Maryââ¬â¢s husband Joseph Rowlandson had assumed his wife and family had been killed, as any man would have thought arriving at his home and village that had been burned and with many bodies surrounding him. The Indians told her that they would kill her husband, children and even her at any moment. They were starving her, and her daughter Sarah not allowing them to eat, and they became very weak. After three days of travel and misery, she was sold to Quinnapin, a Narragansett chief, who had three wives. She was handed to Weetamoo who was the newest of the wives. They allowed for Mary to continue caring for Sarah, who was dying from her gunshot wounds and died from a fever and starvation within a few hours. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for her, watching everyone she loved, removed, die or beaten unmercifully. How she herself, didnââ¬â¢t decide to take her own life after having her spirit broken, and profound grief that was crushing her under such cruelty was remarkable. It was a true test of herself and her faith in God. She was told on a regular basis she was nothing and that if she didnââ¬â¢t do what she was told she would be killed. She watched many more cruel deaths, during her captivity. She also learned how to keep herself a valuable asset so that she would not be killed. She was smart and educated to an extent. She knew when to speak and when not to. When and how to be strong, she learned what was needed to survive; and to an extent how to manipulate to gain others trust in her. She was truly inspiring. Mary started sewing and knitting clothes and traded them to the Indians for pieces of food, or other items, trying to keep off starvation. When she first arrived she would go to other Indians huts begging for food.At one point she went without something to eat for three weeks, and the fourth week only eating scrapes she could scrounge out of the trash. It amazed me that they would take her as a slave, make her work for them, and yet not feed her anything. Weetamoo could have cared less if Mary died. She needed to have smarts and skill to live, or she was going to die. Mary watched many; die of weakness and starvation because they didnââ¬â¢t have enough food to maintain themselves. Mary was becoming hardened and her hatred grew for the Indians. She stated that only a few were compassionate in any way, but she was a survivor, she learned how to trade the things she made, she gathered food from the woods. And if given any item of value or importance, she would give it to Quinnapin to gain his trust in her, and show him her value to them. Mary then went to Quinnapin to beg him to send her back to her husband, and that he would pay whatever ransom the English would pay. Soon word came from two Christian Indians that Mary knew, Tom Dublet and Peter Conway, who brought a letter, to arrange for a ransom.Mary requested twenty pounds as her ransom. Unknown to her husband Joseph, who thought Mary, was dead, and Mary, the governor and Council were the ones who negotiated for her release; prominent men in Boston had joined the selectman and had raised the funds for her ransom. Later Mary and her husband moved to Wethersfield, Connecticut. I found this story to be a true test of faith, willpower, and determination to survive a horrible suffering brought upon her. Her true faith in God is what helped bring her through this.

My life has been a very calm, peaceful life that has been cozy and comfortable. I come from a noble ancestry and a happy, content family. I live in a hole called Bag End in a snug little village under a hill. I loved my life, even though it was a quiet life. Not much thrill in my daily experience of eating, cleaning, smoking, and relaxing, but that is how I liked it,in my own little world you could say. This all changed one day when an experience I had started a domino affect on my life with many adventures involved. It all started that one day while sitting on my porch, smoking a pipe, looking into the landscape when a mysterious man with a long beard, great staff, and massive dark blue cloak approached me. We will write a custom essay sample on Bilbo Baggins Fake Facebook or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I recognized him as Gandalf, the famous wizard of the country . He asks me if I want to go on an adventure, but I quickly dismiss this question and excuse myself back into my house. I thought this would be the last time I would see him in a long period, but the next day, Gandalf plus 13 other dwarfs burst into my house clearing out my pantry during the process. Apparently I was chosen to be a burglar in this huge adventure to go to a dragons den and steal all the treasure that Smuag, the dragon, was guarding. The treasure originally belonged to Thorins grandfather dwarf, Thror who was the King at that time. Smuag the dragon killed and scattered all the people of Thrors village and has been at the mountain guarding the treasure ever since the incident. I then am basically forced to go on this mission but it was technically not forced because hey, who doesnt want an occasional adventure instead of the usual daily life? So I go on this adventure and fight off goblin, wolves, find secret rings, fight off extremely large spiders, travel miles and miles, get rescued multiple times, rescue others multiple times, find the treasure with a mad dragon to go with it, and start a war. You could say I had a pretty interesting experience. In conclusion, when I came home I found out people thought I had died because I had been gone for so long, so in reaction to my presence, people were completely shocked to see me. I lose many of my possessions because they were being auctioned off, but in the end, Im back at my cozy home at Bag End after a crazy, exciting adventure ,that was all worth it in the end. That was my experience. Gandalf Friend Explanation- Gandalf was chosen as a friend of Bilbo Baggins because first, he started the whole adventure by choosing Bilbo to be the burglar in the first place. He then helped Bilbo throughout the story giving him wisdom, teaching him lessons, and making a friendly relationship with him. They helped each other when needed, backed each other up, had conversations, and bonded with each other which are all things friends do. earlier today | comment Smaug the Dragon Non-Friend Explanation-Smaug would not friend Bilbo and Bilbo wouldnt want to friend Smaug for many reasons. First, Bilbo stole the treasure that Smaug was guarding. Second, when Bilbo and the others reached the dragon and the mountain where the treasure was, Bilbo and Smaug didnt really start off on the right foot with each other, you could say. Last but not least, Smaug wanted to kill Bilbo and i dont think you would want to be friends with someone trying and wanting to kill you. These are some main and obvious reasons why Bilbo wouldnt friend Smaug. earlier today | comment www. classtools. I than had to free all of them and fight off swarms of giant spiders wanting us to be there next meal. Another adventure I had in my journey was when me and my accomplices were trying to get away from the goblins and wargs at the same time. They were both chasing after us looking for revenge for deeds we had done earlier to them, like kill their leaders. We didnt know anywhere else we could go when we were in a forest so we decided to climb into the trees so nobody could reach us. This didnt necessarily work because once the goblins came, they lit the bottom of the trees on fire so basically, we were in a pickle. We were about to be ripped to shreds by the wargs and goblins eventually because the fire was slowly reaching up the tree, when suddenly the Lord of the Eagles and many other eagles swooped down and saved us from the terror that awaited us. My last adventure that was also very interesting was escaping the elves and having to save my friends then escape. I had to slip everyone out by secretly going to everyones cell with my magic ring on,which made me invisible. I then said that I will make sure nobody is left behind, and this is what i made true. I havent read the book but based on the summary and main idea of the book, I am drawn into reading the book because of the fantasy world but with amazing detail as well. After I will have read the book, I feel it would satisfy my want to read it and I will enjoy the book while reading it. earlier today | comment Bilbo Baggins FOR MORE INFORMATION- One cultural aspect of the life of Hobbits is that since we are small, we like to be in small, compact areas that are cozy and comfortable for our size. We dont like to be out in the open because of our size. We then feel too vulnerable out in the open because we arent the strongest race, you could say. This then leads to my second cultural aspect of being very peaceful and not having much tension with others. Since we are very vulnerable and small, we like to be on the good sides of others because even though we can put up a fight if needed, there arent many guarantees we will be on the winning side of these fights. We like having a simple, farming and calm life. The last cultural aspect is that we are very unique. We are normally very shy but under the right circumstances we can achieve great things. We look and act different then other species like humans. We are very social and caring for others but like to keep to our own business. We are short ans stout but we are proud of ourselves . earlier today | comment _ www. classtools. net/fb/96/NCMPe2 2/3 10/2/12 Bilbo Baggins on Fakebook! History of Entrepreneurship in Russia Essays
History of Entrepreneurship in Russia Essays History of Entrepreneurship in Russia Essay History of Entrepreneurship in Russia Essay Yves Rocher History of Entrepreneurship in Russia Introduction In Russia, any cosmetic coming from France has a special aura. The reason is that, for the Russian and a lot of other countries, France rimes with glamour, fashion and elegance. That is why I decided to study one of the most successful French business abroad, Yves Rocher, created in 1959 and now implemented in more than 50 countries all over the world. We are going to see how the company spread in Russia starting in the beginning of the 90s, first in Moscow, to reach today Vladivostok and we will observe the very specific political context the firm settled in and how it contributed, in a way, to the success of the French business. History The man who created Yes Rocher Company was Yves Rocher himself, his concept was to use plants to make cosmetics and to sell it by mail order. Yves Rocher is born in 1930 and died in 2009; he was an industrial and a politic. He grew up in La Gacilly in France, where everything started for him. When he was 14, an old lady gave him the recipe of a hemostatic cream, and then he decided to create it in his attic and to sell it by mail order. Natural products and mail order constituted the foundation of his cosmetic business founded in 1959. Early he was focused on the biological agriculture and he wanted to democratize access to beauty products. His business wonââ¬â¢t stop to grow up and 3 years after the beginning he opened his first shop. At the late 80ââ¬â¢s Yves Rocher group was a prosper business with international dimension, and open its irst shop in Russia, in 1991 in Moscow. The Arrival To begin, we must situate the context in which arrived the company. In 1991, Perestroika year, the countryââ¬â¢s borders are closed; it is impossible to find any product coming from abroad. For a foreign company, it is very complicated if it is almost impossible to enter the Russian market. However, shelves in the stores are empty, diversity of products is very low, competition is inexistent. In that way, Russian women represent the perfect target for Yves Rocher, which has in its hands the product that they desire the most. The company, combining ambition, audacity and smelling potential success, decides to open a store in Moscow, on the Pouchkine Place, next to Tverskaya, the ââ¬Å"Russian Champs Elysees Avenueâ⬠, street in which, the same year, the American multinational company Mac Donaldââ¬â¢s, settled in too. Results are instantaneous, the companyââ¬â¢s arrival starts the buzz, thousands and thousands people are queuing in the street during the opening day, on the 15th of August 1991, not only people living in Moscow but coming from other cities, in order to buy and bring home a French product. It was the first store in Moscow where you could see all the products and test them. Yves Rocher was the first foreign cosmetics company coming to Russia, in addition it turns out it was French and the firm was offering to the market a luxury product. The supply could not have been more in line with the demand of the time. Yves Rocher cosmetics are made of vegetal product only, that is what the brand wanted to highlight and that contributed also largely to the companyââ¬â¢s success. The spread Given its size and complexity, Russia is not a territory to be conquered overnight. It was therefore extremely important to proceed gradually and logically. First, by creating a network of stores in cities that were counting more than one million inhabitants, then, in their periphery. That is what generated notoriety. Only after that, the brand developed distance selling through catalogs and then via the Internet (representing 10% of the distance selling). The increase was insane from the start. Sales networks are complementary; distance selling meets the geographical constraints of the country, the clients can find Yves Rocher products everywhere. Another main reason that made the company successful is the marketing policy it decided to apply in Russia. Indeed, since 1991, the company had to face two main crises: in 1998 and in 2009. Instead of undergoing those financial crises, Yves Rocher decided to face it and take some risks by doing, in 1999, a rebranding: the brand changed its visual identity, the logo and its graphic charter. These actions had important consequences; whereas the other brands were stagnating, this way of doing was considered as a remarkable event in the world of cosmetics. It was an unusual decision for a period of crisis when, ordinarily, companies do not move and wait. This generated a lot of new clients. Today Unlike the other countries it is settled in, Yves Rocher has, in Russia, a high-end image and still enjoys the aura of the first foreign cosmetics brand in Russia. In 1991, Yves Rocher was a luxury brand. Nowadays, it is assimilated as a premium brand, French, from natural cosmetics plant and a high quality brand, which is prestigious to own. Yves Rocher is neither a luxury brand nor a ââ¬Å"mass marketâ⬠one, it is the French brand of natural products which are not interchangeable. Today, Yves Rocher Russia represents several brands and distribution networks, more than 200 millions euros of turnover, more than 200 point of sale covering 95% of the cities with more than 250 000 inhabitants, including 50 in Moscow and 13 in St Petersburg. The French company owns half of the Moscow stores network, and all the St Petersburg one. It counts 700 employees, including 150 in the headquarters, in Moscow. The other part of the network is our franchise partners all over the country. This contributes to the development of the micro-enterprise in Russia. Conclusion For a foreign company, entering the Russian market is an ambitious thing; administrative, bureaucratic and culture barriers make Russia difficult to touch. But it was in this country Yves Rocher decided to settle in just after close European countries, twenty years ago. The company dared to take the necessary risks to arrive at a delicate time and offer the right product. Yves Rocher was the first to be able to anticipate and detect the fact that Russia represents a huge potential market. With this gamble, the French firm is now the leader on the cosmetics market in Russia

Assignment - 2 - Article Example The criminal meanwhile is celebrating independence and may be encouraged to do the criminal offence again when and if given the chance. Finally the last reason identified by the authors is that all individuals need the reassurance that they are safe from a faulty judiciary. If due to any reason the people get the impression that the judiciary is sentencing the wrong people, or passing wrong sentences on criminals then it undermines every constitutional provision. Any errors in passing sentences (be it Police Error, Prosecutional Error, Inadequacy of Counsel, or a Judicial Error) all stain the reputation of the legal process and are proof to the people that they are not safeâ⬠¦ not only from criminals but the law as well. Thus, it is a major concern to conduct research on the number of wrongful convictions which occur in any given place. As mentioned earlier there are a number of errors which take place in the wrongful convictions. The major parties recognized which may influence wrongful conviction are the police detectives, the prosecution, the counsel and the judge himself. To decrease the rates of wrongful convictions firstly, the police should conduct thorough investigations with absolute findings and no conspicuous evidences. Also the police should not use the biased investigation techniques which tend to make neutral evidence appear in their favor. The prosecutors can help cut down rate of wrongful convictions by deliberating thoroughly on which cases to pick up as they have the time and resource available to analyze the case thoroughly and go through all the evidence available. The attorneys must conduct independent research rather than relying on the evidences handed down to him. Judges must simply be honest to their profession as they could put an innocent man in jail or set a serial criminal out free. But the common solution here which could favor

Life Sketch - Essay Example I know poverty, despair and suffering and what they do to a country as a whole and to the spirit of the people living through it. I vowed never again would I know such suffering. Since the day I arrived here I have worked very hard to get to where I am now. I have built a life for myself and my family. I am a full time student at ________________University working towards my Bachelors degree in _______________.I do not want pity or sympathy when I write these words. I am telling my story because I want you to understand it is not because of public assistance or handouts that I am where I am now, it is through my own hard work and determination. I now have four beautiful children and have them to love, care for, protect and teach. One of the most important gifts I can impart on them is the belief in themselves that they can achieve whatever they are willing to work towards. I want them to see that they are only limited by the constraints they place on themselves. I want to be a living example to them of what hard work, desire and belief in one's self can accomplish. Since arriving here I have gained a good grasp of the English language. From my limited knowledge and meager beginnings, I am now fluent in both oral and written English. As I previously stated. I am enrolled in college on a full time basis.

Why China has grown faster then India
Why China has grown faster then India Introduction: Comparative studies between China and India are becoming more popular now in the international level. China and India are among the largest economies in the world today. While the Chinese economy has surpass India by a wide margin over the past 15 years. I am comparing the growth experiences of China and India at a broad level, explaining why China has grown faster than India by focusing on the comparison of GDP, Exchange rates policies, Monetary and Fiscal policies, and Unemployment in India and China. In this study will analyze why per capita national income is so much higher in China than in India? And why Chinas GDP is growing so much faster? And why unemployment remains high in both the countries and how the Governments addressing the Unemployment factors? Why GDP per capita national income is so much higher in China than in India? In 1978, after years of state controlled productive assets, the Chinese government invests on a major economic reform program. In an effort to awaken economic giant, it encouraged the formation of rural enterprises, private businesses, liberalized foreign trade and investment. China also relaxed state control over some prices, invested in industrial production and stressed on education of its workforce. The growth in the country is accumulated capital assets, such as new factories, manufacturing machinery and communications systems. Economic development has suggested a significant role for capital investment in economic growth, and a sizable portion of Chinas recent growth is in fact attributable to capital investment that has made the country more productive. In other words, new machinery, better technology and more investment in infrastructure have helped to increase its output. Being hospitable to foreign investment, Chinas open-door policy has added power to the economic transformation. Cumulative foreign direct investment, negligible before 1978, reached nearly US$100 billion in 1994. Annual inflows increased from less than 1% of total fixed investment in 1979 to 18% in 1994. The foreign money helped China built factories, creates more jobs, linked China to international markets and led to important transfers of technology. These trends are especially apparent in the more than one dozen open coastal areas where foreign investors enjoy tax advantages. In addition, economic liberalization has boosted exports which rise 19% a year during 1981-1994. Strong export growth, in turn, appears to have fueled productivity growth in domestic industries. (Zuliu Hu, Mohin S.Khan, 1997) GDP Per Capita (Current US$) 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 China 1,731 2,072 2,660 3,422 3,744 India 765 855 1,096 1,065 1,134 (Adapted from The World Bank Group, 2010) Why Chinas GDP is growing so much faster? GDP: Comparative Analysis between China and India As per IMF (International Monetary Fund) report, China was the fourth largest economy of the world by nominal GDP in 2006, where as India was 12th. China registered GDP growth rate of 14.2% in the first half of 2007, where as India has registered a 9.6% GDP growth in June 2007. Chinese economy is worth $4900 billion, whereas the India economy is worth of $1300 billion. GDP Growth (Annual %) 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 China 11.3 12.7 14.2 9.6 9.1 India 9.3 10.1 9.6 5.1 7.7 (Adapted from The World Bank Group, 2010) GDP (Current US$) 2006 2007 2008 2009 China 2,716,870,000,000 3,505,530,000,000 4,532,790,000,000 4,984,730,000,000 India 949,192,000,000 1,232,820,000,000 1,214,210,000,000 1,310,170,000,000 (Adapted from The World Bank Group, 2010) Chinas economy seems to be a better bet, for unlike China; India is yet to prove that it can sustain high growth rates over a period of time. The general feeling is that despite having a boom in technology, services and IT sector, the Indian economy still eventually depends on good monsoons, meaning that agriculture continues to dominate the Indian economy more than it should. (Arvinder Singh, May/June 2005) Foreign Direct Investment, Net Inflows (BoP, Current US$) The FDI flow depends on the market size, market growth rates, political stability, corruption, exchange rates, labor productivity, economic freedom, infrastructure, openness, human capital and taxes. China got $79 billion in 2005 in FDI and India did not even get $ 7 billion in FDI. In 2009 there is slight change in Chinas FDI of about $78 billion dollars but India made a good progress of raising $34 billion in FDI compared to year 2005. The study tried to explore this phenomenon and to understand the drivers for attracting foreign investment in emerging economies. India despite being the largest democracy in the world has lagged behind due to its focus on services and specialized skill based relatively small manufacturing model in contrast to China. India growth model has been based on IT, ITES and skilled manufacturing which are dependent on the availability of human skill and capital in an emerging market. (Swapna S Sinha, Apr-Sep 2008) FDI, Net inflows (BoP, Current US$) 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 China 79,126,731,413 78,094,665,751 138,413,000,000 147,791,000,000 78,192,727,413 India 7,606,425,242 20,335,947,448 25,127,155,852 41,168,605,242 34,577,000,000 (Adapted from The World Bank Group, 2010) China is regularly getting 10 to 12 times more foreign investment than India. In India the number have come up, they will probably come up more. I believe China has a more competitive manufacturing sector than India and that is derived primarily from Chinas greater degree of openness than India. That does not mean that India does not have many world class manufacturing companies, it certainly does, but on an average the competitive environment in China is much stronger because its tariff being much lower. (Adapted from U.S. Census Bureau, 2010) ? Exchange Rate Policies in two countries: China policy The debate over the exchange rate between the Renminbi (RMB) and the Dollar is usually framed in terms of global imbalances, excessive US consumption beyond its savings on the one hand, and excessive Chinese production and savings beyond its own spending on the other. This quickly leads to a conclusion that the United States should export and save more and China should import and spend more. Leaders in the United States would like the RMB to appreciate significantly and quickly to encourage an expansion of US exports and employment. The argument for a sustained appreciation of the RMB is rooted not only in short term concerns about Chinas large current account surplus, but also in long term trends of Chinas economic fundamentals, including high growth rate, rapid urbanization and industrialization, low national debt and low fiscal deficits. These trends are the result of three decades of reform in China that have opened the country to trade with the rest of the world and led to strong productivity gains. Based on the experience of other fast growing industrializing economies, these forces will increase Chinese wages, the value of the RMB and Chinas price level over time. (Steven Dunaway, 2010) (Geng Xiao, 2010) Indian Policy With the appreciation of the rupee/dollar exchange rate in early May and the expectation of interest rate hike, there was some appreciation of the rupee and that could hurt exports. In particular, it would hurt the low value added exports from small and medium enterprises. The recent recovery in exports happens to be the biggest factor for a sharp rise in industrial output growth; this imminent rate hike was opposed. There were calls for the Reserve Bank of India to intervene in the forex market to contain the strength of the rupee largely to support the export sector recovery. There were even suggestions to continue the export incentives that were part of the overall stimulus packages of 2009. These suggestions are based on the assumption that in India, a weak rupee would encourage exports and thus, help the overall growth recovery. Many economists have argued for intervention in the forex market, and some Asian economies, notable China maintain artificially undervalued exchange rates to maintain international competitiveness. (N R Bhanumurthy, 2010) Monetary and Fiscal Policies in two countries: Indian Monetary Policy The Reserve bank continues its tightening cycle as inflation pressures are building, by raising reserve requirements and its main interest rates since the beginning of the year. Indian Fiscal Policy The budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year projects improvements for the deficit after the fiscal stimulus of last year and the large one off expenditures of the year before. As a share of GDP, the deficit is expected to reach 7.8% of GDP from 9.6% last year and 11.8% in 2008-09. The improvement will come from a combination of weaker expenditure growth from reduced subsidies and greater revenues from the acceleration of economic growth. The reversal of indirect tax cuts that were part of the fiscal stimulus package, the expansion of the tax base and the revival of the privatization program, as well as the one time sale of G3 licenses, which generated over US$ 15 billion. Solvency indicators will improve again, but are expected to remain above comfortable levels, with public debt to GDP reaching 68% by 2014-15. (Export Development Canada, 2010) Unemployment in China India and Remedial Measures by the Government: Causes of Unemployment in China This country has largest population in the world. The work force available is too large. Every year new generation is added to the already available work force. It is very difficult for any government to find jobs for millions of young people entering in the job market. In 2004 the estimation was that 15 million young people will enter the job market and only about 8 million jobs were expected to be created in that year. The other major reason behind the unemployment is the type of jobs offered. There is lack of jobs for the graduates and literate young people. I feel that the ever increasing population and lack of the English speaking workforce are the two major causes of unemployment in China. Causes of Unemployment in India There are individual factors like age, slow pace of development, high growth rate of population, slow industrialization, slow growth rate of agriculture etc. Every year Indian population increases manifold. More than this every year about 5 million people become eligible for securing jobs. Self employment field is subject to ups and downs of trade cycle and globalization. Technological advancement contributes to economic development, but unplanned and uncontrolled growth of technology is causing havoc on job opportunities. The Chinese government is addressing the unemployment issues by promoting growth of tertiary industries, by increasing financial support and implementing favorable policy for non state sector especially small medium companies in private sector. It is also readjusting the employment concept and is preparing laborers with practical job training and education. Conclusion: The main reason why Chinas GDP is higher than Indias is that the growth of China has resulted from the rapid rise in the manufacturing of high-tech goods in the country under the large scale high tech manufacturing firms like Lenovo, Baidu.com and Huawei Technologies. The infrastructural development in China has also been quite high than that of India, which has added to growth of the Chinese GDP. China spends 11% of GDP on infrastructure and India spends 6% of GDP on infrastructure. (Geethanjali Nataraj, 2010)

Emily Brontes Wuthering Heights: Life is Hard :: Wuthering Heights Essays
Wuthering Heights ââ¬â Life is Hard Many times in life, people leave our lives and then come back into them.à However, we remember them, but they do not remember us.à The same thing happened in Emily Brontà «'s book Wuthering Heights.à Linton, taken by his mother to London after his birth, never knew his father, then when things happened, he came back home.à He had family fighting over where he was to live and whom he would be around.à Not knowing part of your family until after you are fifteen is hard. à à à Isabella took her son, after he was born, and moved to London away from Thrushcross Grange.à At the same time, she moved away from her husband, Heathcliff.à During the time that Isabella and Linton were gone, Isabella got sick and passed away.à Right before her death, a letter came saying that she was dying so Hindley went to visit her.à While he was there, she did passed on so he brought Linton back with him.à Once back, everyone looked after him and made him feel at home. à à à Heathcliff soon came to the knowledge that his son had returned to Wuthering Heights.à He then sent someone to Wuthering Heights to get Linton.à However, he did not know that Linton was already asleep so he did not get the boy that night.à The next day the boy was taken to Heathcliff at Thrushcross Grange.à The father and son were nothing alike, and Linton was intimidated by his father.à He did stay, and meet some of his relatives that he had never seen, who helped him adjust to living there. à à à Everyday in our lives we run into situations that we wish we had never been involved with.à I relate to the characters of Linton and Heathcliff.à I am like Linton because people know who I am, but I never remember meeting them, and am scared around them.à I also feel the same as Hindly might have of.à This is because I would want to see the person I did not know, but then I would not know how to cat around them.à In time people come around, but others, as with Heathcliff and Linton, never come around. à à à Everyday life is something we take for granted.

My Personal Experience with Religion
I have considered myself a religious person for most of my life.à I was saved at ten years old, but I have been in church since I was two years old.à I know that many people say that religion and Christianity are not the same, but I am one of those few people who do believe that religion is important to.à I think that you cannot have one without the other.à They are both vital to the spiritual makeup of a person. If it had not been for my acceptance of Christ and the Holy Spirit that dwells in me, I donââ¬â¢t know what would have happened to me.à I definitely would not be the person that I am today.à I have always prayed about everything.à I believe that God is my spiritual father, and just like I talk with my biological father and converse with him everyday, I talk with my heavenly about everything. I believe that it is very hard to talk freely with a stranger.à Before you open up and bare your soul to someone, there is an established relationship.à It is the same with God.à It is extremely hard to take everything to him if a person does not know him.à I cannot remember a time when I have not had a relationship with him. It has made a huge difference in my life to be able to talk to him about everything.à I have actually had many prayers answered.à There is no way that I could remember all of them since they have happened every day of my life.à Therefore, my spiritualism has grown and changed over time.à When I was much younger, I saw God as one who had to be obeyed, but I have now grown to the point where I actually do have a relationship with him.à I used to worry so much about how I would handle everything in my life. Now I know that it is all in Godââ¬â¢s hands.à I have learned that I have to completely trust him, and that all of my plans and worrying is not going to help.à à It sounds on paper like I have just given up, but nothing can be further from the truth.à I have actually gotten stronger, and the time I used to spend on worrying, I now spend on talking to God. I do think that my religion has helped to strengthen my relationship with God.à It is through my religion that I have a church family of people who I can depend upon for my strength.à It is a wonderful sense of well being when I know that I have a whole host of people behind me that love and care about me because of our common beliefs through Jesus Christ.à I also believe that a religion is easier to understand when you are a part of it because you have access to others to teach you.à I have always had mentors and ministers to help me in my understanding of the faith that I have chosen. They not only tell me what they believe about it, but they have encouraged me to seek the scriptures to find my answers, and since they are more experienced than I am, they can steer me in the right direction to find those scriptures.à The faith that I am associated with encourages its members to seek answers from the scripture.à It is not encouraged to accept something just because a person tells us that is the way that it is.à I have many friends from other faiths, and it is nearly impossible for them to overcome the stereotypes that they have heard about my religion.à I find that I have the same problem when it comes to theirs as well. As I stated earlier, my religion encourages its members to try our beliefs with what the scriptures says.à Because of that I do think that I can remain objective.à I have learned that when I challenge something that someone of my faith says is right or wrong, I can go to the scriptures and if it is not there, I can choose to disregard the opinion.à In fact I believe that everyone has challenged at least one thing that their religion upholds.à I think that is only human and it is perfectly natural. If one cannot be objective and at least listen to both sides of a religious topic, then the person must look closely at whether he/she is brainwashed.à Questioning and objectivity is a good thing.à One cannot grow and accept other if he/she does not remain objective.à The only thing that cannot be changed what the Bible says about an issue. My life has been a full one and it has been steeped in religion.à I have enjoyed it immensely.à I am proud of the way that I have grown in my religion and my faith.à I would have to say that my religious experience has been a totally positive experience. Works Cited Warren, Rick. The Purpose Driven Life. 2003. Nashville: Zonderman Press. The Sacred Ritual There have been many sacred rituals that I have participated in during the course of my life.à The one that I enjoy the most and that has had the most impact on me is communion.à It is something that started with the night of Jesusââ¬â¢ arrest before his crucifixion.à I believe that the ritual is so beautiful and meaningful that I get emotional every time I take it. When I was a little child, I could not understand why all of the adults got to eat and drink from those cute cups and I could not have it.à Therefore, I suppose I hated the ritual at first.à I especially couldnââ¬â¢t understand how my own mother, who share everything with her children, could eat and drink in front of us and not even give us a taste.à I remember that her attempts at explaining it to us were feeble at best, so I would get angry every communion.à I cannot help but get a little tickled even today when I hear the small children at my church when communion is served.à Most of them are questioning their parents and grandparents and I automatically go back to my youth in my mind and remember all of my frustrations. Once I was saved and was able to take communion, I was just so glad that I was one of the big people, that I still did not realize the significance of what I was doing.à It was not until I was in my late teens that I realized what it was really all about.à At my church, a sermon on communion is always preached.à It might seem repetitive to some, but like a favorite bedtime story, or favorite movie, it is a joy to revisit the seen of the last supper.à I love the part where Jesus explains to the disciples what each part of the ritual means, and I enjoy what the Apostle Paul explains that it is not just a fellowship supper, but a meaningful link between Jesus and the Christian people. I find it refreshing during the part where all of the Christians in the church take time to reflect on the sins in their lives.à Sometimes it is painful when they are remembered, but after I have asked forgiveness, I feel as fresh as a newborn baby.à I am ready to start over.à There is also a time to ask forgiveness of others that we might have wronged.à This is also a special time.à I love it when I am reunited with someone that I have been at odds with. Then there is the sacred time of sharing the bread and the cup with our Lord Jesus.à The bread is the symbol of the body of Christ.à When we break it to eat it, it symbolizes what cruelties were done to his body.à I was not in Jerusalem the day of the crucifixion, but by taking part in communion I can be.à He died as much for me as he did the ones living at the time.à Therefore, when I break the bread, I am actually symbolizing that I did break his body so that he could die for my sins.à Then I drink from the cup that is supposed to represent the blood of Christ.à Without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness of sin.à When I drink from the cup, I symbolize that his blood was spilled, and only through the spilling of the Saviorââ¬â¢s blood could I be saved. When I ponder these things, I get chilled just knowing what Jesus has done for me and every other person.à He did not have to, but he willingly went to the cross for us.à Communion is one of the ways that I get to be reminded of the tremendous gift that Christ gave to all mankind. Works Cited The Holy Bible. King James Version. New York: Thomas Nelson Press. My Understanding Since I have taken this class, I have had a little better understanding of evil in the world.à I say a little because I have thought about this so much that my feelings on the matter have progressed over a long period of time. I feel that there are many reasons that God allows evil to exist in the world.à I believe that man has a great deal to do with it.à Yes, God is all powerful, but he allows us to live with the mess that we have made.à I will use the example of the horrible Hurricane Katrina.à There were many good people who lost everything that they had and many even lost their lives.à The same can be said of those who had not lived good lives.à There were babies who died, many elderly, and many in the prime of their lives. Some might question why God would allow this to happen.à Instead they should question man.à It was man who built so many houses and cleared so many forest and wetlands that the water had no where to go.à It was man who built underneath Lake Pontchartrain, and it was man who did not do adequate upkeep on the levies.à It could be argued that man helped create the hurricane itself with his utter disregard to the environment which is leading to global warming.à It is man who has to live with the decisions he and others before him have made.à God designed the earth to be perfect.à It was man who messed things up and brought sin into the earth.à If he had stopped man, then he would have taken away personal choice. My ability to understand what is right and wrong has changed over the years.à First I accepted what my parents told me was right and wrong.à When I became a teen, I judged what was right and wrong with what I wanted to do and think.à Now I search the scriptures.à I read the Bible as much as I can, and I have a pretty good feel for the obvious things that are right and wrong.à I will argue an opinion, but when it comes to the Word of God, I feel that if it is in the Bible, then that is the way that it is. I pray about situations that I have a difficult time determining what is right and wrong, and God never fails to send me a sign.à Sometimes it is not the one that I wanted, but he still delivers.à I also rely on what many people call a conscious, but I feel is the Holy Spirit.à I believe if I listen to the still small voice within me, then it is usually more right than what society tells me is right and wrong. Socrates` question: `Is something right because God commands it or does he command it because it is right?`à I feel that there are times that people think too much and this is an example.à Words are powerful and they can also have the power to confuse us.à I feel that God only commands what is right and he is omnipotent therefore he is right.à If he is the creator of all things, and I believe that he is, then he created right and wrong.à At the same time he commands things to be right because he determined it.à God is right. Which Is Greenest, City Living or Country Living
We often equate living in an environmentally responsible way with country living. The imagery is appealing: sun-drenched fields, tender green leaves on young fruit trees, laundry on the line, harvesting fresh chicken eggs. However, the question deserves to be examined: which is really greener, urban living, or rural living? Environmental Arguments for Rural Living Children with opportunities for ample outdoors experiences have frequent, genuine interactions with the natural world. There is some evidence that these experiences have health benefits like reduced anxiety and lower risks of myopia and obesity.Living closer to nature provides more hands-on experience and direct understanding of environmental issues. Witnessing sediment pollution, acid mine drainage, or algae blooms make it more likely that someone will seek to educate themselves about the problem, and perhaps organize their community to find solutions or otherwise take some steps to mitigate the issue.à By living closer to agriculture, one can get to know farmers, learn about the sustainability levels of the various practices they follow, and choose quality local food with a low environmental footprint. When the space is available, rural residents can grow healthy crops themselves or harvest wild foods, reducing their reliance on meats, fruit, and vegetables grown with questionabl e practices and transported over long distances. In addition, backyard food growers can control food waste better; supermarket food goes through distribution and marketing practices that create large amounts of waste.Rural living provides unique opportunities to minimize energy needs, reduce oneââ¬â¢s carbon footprint, and lower contributions to global climate change. Less constrained by apartment or condo living, in the absence of restrictive homeowner association rules, and with more space available, rural residents have more freedom to design their own passive solar house, put up solar panels, or even install a micro-hydro turbine. Environmental Arguments for Urban Living Cities are characterized by dense housing, with many more people living in a comparatively small area. This concentrates human land use, easing pressure on natural areas outside the city. Without the high demand for suburban or rural living, there would be much less pressure on agriculture lands and wild lands, less habitat fragmentation, and less roadkill-causing car traffic. This dense urban fabric means small dwellings, requiring far less energy to heat and cool and leaving less room for energy-hungry appliances than the bigger homes typical of the countryside.A walking lifestyle is more accessible in the city, where the workplace may be located within walking or biking distance. In rural areas people are much more reliant on car transportation, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. For those not walking to work or to conduct errands, public transportation options are usually much more accessible to urban residents.Access to quality local food. Surprisingly, it is often easier to find farmers markets in the city, where shoppers can make choices that favor local foods grown following sustainable practices. However, some of the worst food deserts in the country are in economically depressed urban areas, where the only accessible sources of food are convenient stores and fast-food restaurants offering few healthy and environmentally conscious options. While it is admittedly more of a health issue, in the United States water quality is generally better in cities, counter-intuitively. There, everyone is connected to a municipal water source that has been treated and is routinely tested. In rural areas, most people rely on well water, which vary greatly in quality and is rarely tested. Furthermore, the proximity to intensive agricultural operations can increase the chances of groundwater being contaminated by pesticides.Sewage treatment is centralized, monitored, and generally effective in cities. Rural residents rely on a patchwork of septic systems of various ages and level of maintenance. The Verdict In my opinion urban living likely results in, on average, lifestyles with a lighter environmental impact. At the same time, rural life may allow more flexibility for individuals to make personal choices aimed at minimizing ones ecological footprint. How about suburban living? That is a great question which deserves to be explored more in depth soon.

Planned Change At The San Diego Airport Authority
Planned Change at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Identify and describe the steps of the planned change process used in the case. After reading the article concerning the planned changes at the San Diego Regional Airport Authority, I determined there were two major areas that were focused upon. The first area of focus was the initial development of the transition plan, and secondly, dealing with the legal and regulatory aspect and any concerns that will arise in reference to this area of the change. Thella Bowen was the current senior director of the Aviation Division within the Port of San Diego. The Aviation division was accountable for operating the San Diego International Airport. There was a new law was passed by the California state law in October 2001 with the accountability of establishing and operating airports within San Diego County, with Thella Bowen being named Interim Executive Director of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority(Cummings Worley, 2015, p. 31). Thella Bowen ultimately appointed an interim advi sory board to assist in managing the evolution of these impending changes. In starting the process, in April 2002, Ms. Bowens brought together the senior team from the former Aviation Division in order to deliberate creating and managing a transition process that will be both smooth and effective. Should We Let The Toys Do The Talking Essay - 1838 Words
Should We Let the Toys Do the Talking? The toy industry is rapidly changing. With more and more toys becoming electronically enhanced, it is important for all caregivers of children to be aware of how these types of toys affect children both physically and mentally. Michaela B. Wooldridge, and Jennifer Shapka reported their research in 2010 on how electronic toys affect parent and child interactions, in an article titled ââ¬Å"Playing with technology: Mother-toddler interaction scores lower during play with electronic toys.â⬠The purpose of their research is to determine how electronic toys affect parent-toddler communication during playtimes, and to add to the limited existing research on how electronic toys of all sorts impact children. This topic is highly important because when children play, they are impacted emotionally, mentally, physically, socially, and linguistically. Wooldridge and Shapka hypothesize that if a parent and child engage in play with an electronic toy as opposed to non-electronic, then the qu ality of their interaction will be impaired. To test their hypothesis, Wooldridge and Shapka conducted a cross sectional, observational study. To gather mother and toddler volunteers, they posted public and community service advertisements in southern British Columbia, Canada. The requirements for participation included the childââ¬â¢s age (ranging from 16 to 24.5 months), and the mother declaring that she is the childââ¬â¢s primary caregiver. How to Evaluate Research Articles
Question - Find an original research article (ie NOT a review) that provides evidence to answer the question. Give the full citation for the article first, and then using the scholarly literature to support your work, answer the following questions - 1. What is the study design used in the article? 2. What methods did the researcher/s use to collect and analyse their data, and why? 3. What are the key findings of the study? 4. How do these findings help to answer your clinical question, considering your population and practice setting? Answer - The research study that has been considered in appropriately answering the question of evidence based practice in nursing care is creating a culture of evidence-based practice and nursing research in a pediatric hospital written by Straka, Brandt and Beytus (2013). A critical analysis of the selected article with respect to different factors related to it is performed as follows: Study Design Used in the Article: A critical analysis of the selected article has performed has indicated that the research design that has been considered by the authors in the study is experimental research design. The main focus of the authors in the article was mainly towards developing a culture of evidence based practice in respect to nursing care, and this has been analysed by the authors by way of applying experimental research design. The study indicates that there is higher overall importance of developing an evidence based environment in respect to nursing care, but at the same time, it has also been indicated that the development of evidence based practice involves challenges in the process. In order to evaluate this, survey design has been considered that were distributed to staff nurses in order to assess the barriers in practising the evidence based practice, and research in daily practice. On the basis of findings, a dissemination plan has been implemented over a period of 1 year time that provided op portunities to staff in implementing evidence based practice over such period. The survey was distributed again after the one year period and this pre and post survey results were considered for the purpose of analysing the challenges in the creation of evidence based culture in respect to nursing care. Thus, the experimental research design has been considered which has been effective from the point of view of performing this research (Schyve, 2009). Methods Used for Collection and Analysis of Data: In performing the research work, it is essential that there should be the collection of data that should be performed by researcher, and there are various such techniques that could be utilised. In respect to this research on examining the creation of culture of evidence based environment in nursing care, the researcher has followed a specific methodology aimed at collecting the most relevant data in this research. As for instance, there has been the application of survey technique being performed by the authors in the given study and this technique has allowed in the collection of primary data in this research. Such survey technique has been applied to the staff nurses in respect to a pediatric hospital. The survey has been carried out in two different phases to evaluate the longitudinal effect of creating a culture of evidence based environment in respect to the nursing care (Veenema, 2008). This primary method of data collection in the form of survey has been utilised because this has been the most efficient way of collecting data especially in the context of studying a specific target population. As in the given case, the target population has been the specific pediatric hospital and as a result, the most efficient way to accomplish the research goal is mainly to study the pediatric hospital through the application of survey technique. This survey has been highly efficient in the given case because it allowed the researchers to identify the viewpoints of large number of respondents which has been crucial in understanding the creation of culture supporting evidence based practice. Overall, the primary data collection method as applied in the form of survey has been highly effective from the point of view of collecting data in this research (Rich, 2008). Key Findings of the Study: Based on the performance of the entire research, significant level of findings has been achieved. As the research was focused towards assessing the barriers in the process of implementing evidence based practice in nursing care, the performance of research has indicated findings that there has been slight decrease in the perception of barriers in implementing evidence based practice in nursing care. As the research has been conducted into two fold basis such as pre-survey and a post-survey after one year period after implementing the evidence based practice for such period of one year, the study findings revealed that the barriers could be significantly reduced from considering the evidence based practice. In addition to this, the dissemination plan as applied has also showed significant level of impact over other important nursing areas such as increase in the nurse led IRB studies, and there has also been increase being evident with respect to evidence based practices within nurses . This shows that there are both the positive as well as negative factors being noted in respect to evidence based practice in nursing care (Straka, Brandt and Brytus, 2013). Findings Addressing the Clinical Question: The clinical question that has been considered for the purpose of analysis is evidence based practice in nursing. The findings as achieved from this research on creating a culture of evidence based practice in nursing are also significant from the point of view of addressing the questions on evidence based practice. This is mainly because the study focuses towards creating a culture of evidence based care, and this basic understanding with respect to evidence based care in nursing is crucial. The review of this research article has indicated about the barriers in the process of creating evidence based cultural environment conditions, and it has also been assessed about the significant improvements that could be possible from practising evidence based care in the field of nursing. This finding as achieved from the conduct of the study would be of significant help from the perspective of addressing the research question that has been set forth. These findings about clinical nursing wou ld therefore be regarded as highly appropriate from the point of view of the clinical question on evidence based care as considered. References Rich, V. The Regulators of North Carolina Outraged Opress Essay Example For Students
The Regulators of North Carolina Outraged Opress Essay orsThe history of colonial North Carolina is bombarded with frequent strife andturmoil. The people of North Carolina, because of a lack in supervision fromthe British monarchy, learned to possess an independent spirit. The colony remainedisolated from the rest of the country because of several geographicalconditions such as poor harbors, the abscence of navigable rivers, numerousswamps, and bad road conditions. Due to these conditions, communitiesthroughout North Carolina became widely seperated. The colony was initiallyset up by the Lords Proprietors, an English founding company that helpedfinance early American exploration. When North Carolina was freed fromBritish proprietorship, the Granville family, descendants from the originalLords Proprietors, con-tinued to hold their land rights. This area, whichbecame known as the Granville District, was the scene of many disputes overland grants, taxes, British support, and a great deal of lesser issues. Settlers in the back country (Piedm ont) felt particularly oppressed by the laws drawn up by an assembly largely composed of eastern landowners. Localofficials in many counties, particularly in the western segment of the backcountry were not local men at all, but friends of the royal governor, WilliamTryon. These so-called friends often collected higher fees than authorizedby the law while obtaining tax money or divided a single service into manyservices and charged fees for each. Lawyers who followed the judges aroundthe colony also fell into the same habit. We will write a custom essay on The Regulators of North Carolina Outraged Opress specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The citizens of Anson, Orange, and Granville counties were the first to makethemselves heard. In 1764, this band of citizens, referred to as the mob, created a number of local disturbances until Governor Arthur Dobbs passed a proclomation forbidding the collection of illegal fees, the practice that the people complained of the most. Their protests were calmed only temporarily. However, the efects of the new law wore off soon enough and sheriffs and other county officers returned totheir old dishonest practices. Citizens complained largely in part becausemoney was so scarce; local trading was almost limited to barter. Often, property was seized and resold, and citizens felt that their property wasbeing sold to a friend of an official for much less than its true value (1). People among the Granville District were anxious to revolt and needed only a leader to provide the spark that led to the fire of the War of Regulation. Aman named Hermon Husband became actively involved and was referr ed to as aleader several times, despite the fact that he was often nothing more than anagitator. Husband reprinted patriotic flyers with messages dealing withtaxation withour representation hoping that citizens would call for reform. However, at no time during the Regulation was there an actual leader (2). Orange County was an early center of Regulator activity. Colonel EdmundFanning, holder of numerous offices in the county including the prominent Clerkof the Recorders Court at Hillsborough, became a prime target along withRoyal Governor William Tryon, who took office in 1765. Tryon was hatedbecause he aimed to use taxes to build Tryon Palace in New Bern, a verycostly residence for himself, as well as the seat for the colonysgovernment. The Regulators, who named themselves after a group of countryreformists in South Carolina (3) shortly after Tryons announcement to buildthe palace, had no sympathy with the governors desire for a fancy residence. The War of Regulation was not limited to Orange County. Outbreaks ofviolence during the collection of taxes in Anson County and several riotsthroughout the Granville District were sure signs of what was to come. A group of men, apparently enthusiastic over the success of the Sons ofLiberty in resisting the Stamp Act, called citizens together to determinewhether they were being treated justly or not. Edmund Fanning denounced thismeeting. Little was accomplished at the meeting, but this is where theRegulators proclaimed themselves as a radical political group (4). Minor oppositions continued to occur until the spring of 1768 when the sheriff of Orange County announced he would be collecting taxes at certain areas of thecolony only, and if colonists did not pay at these particular locations acharge would be incurred. This occured at about the same time Tryon gaveword about the construction of Tryon Palace. This was very inconvenient forthe sttlers for two reasons. The widely scattered population made itdifficult to arrive at these tax stations. Lack of money was also a concern. Opposition to these moves influenced people to join the Regulatorassociation. The Regulators declared their purpose in a proclamation soonafter claiming they would: assemble ourselves for conference for regulatingpublic grievances and abuses of power, in the following particularsthatmay occur: (1) We will pay no more taxes until we are satisfied that they areagreeable to law, and applied to the purposes therein mentioned, unless wecannot help it, or are forced. (2) We will pay no officer any more fees thanthe law allows, unless we are obliged to do it, and then show our dislike andbear open testimony against it. (3) We will attend all of our meetings as often as we conveniently can (4) We will contribute to collections for defraying the necessaryexpenses attending the work, according to our abilities. (5) In case ofdifferences in judgement, we will submit to the judgement of the majority ofour body. (5) The Regulators also did not allow drinking of alcohol attheir meetings because th ey knew that different opinions could result in aninternal clash. At an unfortunate moment with feeling between the two opposing sides ata peak, officials in Hillsborough seized a Regulators horse, saddle, andbridle and sold them for taxes. Outraged, a band of Regulators rode intoHillsborough, rescued the horse, and before leaving town, fired several shotsinto Edmund Fannings house. Fanning, who was in court in Halifax, immediately ordered the arrest of three Regulators who played a big role inthe Hillsborough horse incident, William Butler, Peter Craven, and NinianBell Hamilton. Citizens of Orange County were very sympathetic with theRegulators. Hermon Husband was chosen as one of two delegates to meet withofficials to discuss the incident. Before the meeting could be held, Fanninggathered a handful of armed men and assisted the sheriff in arresting WilliamButler and Hermon Husband. The two men were charged with inciting the peopleto rebellion and were confined in the Hillsborough jail. Enraged by the officers, the following morning seven hundred m en, some ofwhom were not Regulators, went to Hillsborough to rescue the prisoners. .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 , .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .postImageUrl , .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 , .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:hover , .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:visited , .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:active { border:0!important; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:active , .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201 .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue5462a3342de687d39d3a6aaa1e08201:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Reservoir Dogs EssayCounty officials, becoming alarmed, released the prisoners in time to speedthem away to meet the approaching mob of men. The governors secretaryinformed the protestors that Governor Tryon would receive their petition toinvestigate conditions in Orange County and would see that they received fairtreatment at the hands of county officials. Due to this incident, support forthe Regulation movement spread (6). The Regulators pursued their purpose with tremendous force. They oftenbroke into courts of justice, drove judges from the bench and set up mock trials. They dragged unoffending attorneys through the streets almost until deathand publicly assaulted peaceful citizens who refused to express publicsympathy for the Regulation. In September, 1770, Judge Richard Henderson waspresiding over the superior court in Hillsborough when a mob of one hundredfifty Regulators, led by Husband, armed with sticks and switches, broke intothe courthouse, attempted to strike the judge, and forced him to leave thebench. They next attacked and severely whippped John Williams, a practicingattorney. William Hooper, who later would be a signer of the Declaration ofIndependence and an assistant attorney general was dragged through thestreets to be humiliated and violently abused. Edmund Fanning was pulledfrom the courthouse by his heels and dragged from the courthouse before beingbrutally whipped. The mob then broke into Fannings house, burned hispapers, destroyed his furniture, and demolished and burned the building. Many others were whipped as the Regulators rioted through the streets ofHillsborough. Windows of private homes were broken and the inhabitants of the town wereterrorized. Court was adjourned when Judge Henderson was unable to keep order(7). The assembly of Governor Tryon set about at once to draw up a series ofreform measures. Acts were passed dealing with the appointment of sheriffs andtheir duties, fixing attorneys fees, regulating officers fees, providingfor more speedy collection of small debts, and the creation of the countiesof Wake, Guilford, Chatham, and Surry in the areas of the region where theRegulators were the most numerous. These laws were designed to meet thedemands of the Regulators, but while the assembly was vigorously passingthese laws word arrived that the Regulators had assembled in CumberlandCounty and were preparing to march to New Bern, the current capital of NorthCarolina and residence of Royal Governor William Tryon. A complete changecame over the assembly and thoughts turned toward punishing measures (8). The assembly adopted the Johnston Act introduced by Samuel Johnston, who would later be a member of the Continental Congress and a senator from NorthCarolina in the First Congress of the Unit ed States. This act was to beenforced for one year only. It stated that the attorney general couldprosecute charges of riot in any superior court in the province. All whoavoided the summons for court for sixty days were declared and liable to bekilled for treason. In addition to these drastic steps, the governor wasallowed to call the militia out to enforce the law. The Regulators, asanticipated by the governingauthorities in North Carolina, reacted withdefiance. To promote and strengthen their organization they sent messengersto nearly every county to encourage supporters and organize those who wouldjoin them. The people of Rowan County were extremely cooperative due totheir hatred of the Johnston Act (9). Governor Tryon, in March 1771, ordered a term of superior court to be heldin Hillsborough, but judges filed a protest with the council. Under the riotousconditions existing in that part of the province, they felt that they couldnot hold court with any hope of prosecution. They also feared for theirpersonal safety because of what previously occurred in Hillsborough in thecase of Judge Richard Henderson. After this appeal had been made, thecouncil decided that it was time to take a stand against the lawlessness ofthe citizens (10). Protest from the Regulators came strongly, but Tryon paid no attention. On March 19, 1771 he called for volunteers for the militia and when enlistmentsbegan slowly he offered a payment of forty shillings. The offer helpedtremendously, and on April 23 the troops got under way. Guns, ammunition, and other equipment for these troops had been sent at Tryons request fromFort Johnston on the Cape Fear River. General Hugh Waddell had already beenordered to march to Salisbury to halt the advances of the Rowan Regulators,to retrieve the western militia, and march to Hillsborough from the west. At the Johnston County Courthouse troops from Craven, Cateret, Orange, Beau-fort, New Hanover, Onslow, Dobbs, and Johnston were joined by the Wakemilitia. They made their way to Smiths Ferry beside the Neuse River whereTryon reviewed the troops on May 3, 1771. There were 1,068 men; 151 wereofficers. Pleased with his recruitment, he broke camp and advanced towardHillsborough. General Waddell and his 284 officers and men were approachingSalisbury from the Cape Fear River. .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 , .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .postImageUrl , .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 , .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:hover , .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:visited , .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:active { border:0!important; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:active , .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915 .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uefd9678893686a7bef6fcd02f0df4915:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Jane Austen Quotes EssayGovernor Tryon and the militia reached Hillsborough on May 9. GeneralWaddell left Salisbury that same day, but while crossing the Yadkin River he was metand stopped by a large group of Regulators. Waddell retreated back toSalisbury. Intending to help General Waddell, Tryon left Hillsborough on May 11 leadingthe militia through the heart of Regulator country. On the fourteenth day theyreached the banks of Alamance Creek where they rested for a day. On May 16,1771, Tryon ordered his army into battle formation. The companies fromCateret, Orange, Beaufort, New Hanover, and Dobbs counties, plus theartillery, were in the lead, followed by companies from Onslow and Johnston. With these troops Tryon set out to destroy a large body of Regulatorsreported assembled five miles ahead. The Regulators, estimated at about 2,000, were waiting for Tryons confrontation. They lacked adequate leadership, a clear purpose, efficient organization, andeven sufficient arms and ammunition for battle. The Regulators must havefelt that simply by making a display of force they could frighten thegovernor into granting their demands. Among their number were many noisy andrestless individuals and many who seemed not to realize the seriousness ofthe situation lying ahead. Earlier that week, some of the Regulatorscaptured Colonel John Ashe and Captain John Walker of Tryons militia whilethey were scouting, severly beat them, and made them prisoners. So careless were the Regulators and so unaware of the situation most of themwere wrestling and playing around when an older soldier who happened to beamong them warned them to expect an attack at any minute. Shortly after, thefiring began. Before the shooting began, the Regulators were given a choiceto retreat and dissolve their group or be fired upon. In the one hour theyhad to decide few were considering their lives. The Regulators gave noresponse and thus the Battle of Alamance began. Tryons well-equipped troops soon put the Regulators to flight. The Regulators had no officer higher than captain and each individual company foughtindependently. Tryons artillery fire was very effective in the beginning, but manyRegulators later found refuge behind trees and rocks. The Regulators weredeserted by many of their own comrades and took early leave of thebattlefield. The Battle of Alamance lasted two hours. Tryons forces lost nine to deathand sixty-one wounded, while the Regulators lost the same number killed and had alarge, but undetermined number of people wounded. Tryon took about fifteenprisoners and executed one on the spot with the idea of striking terror intothe hearts of the Regulators. This action, I believe, was uncalled forbecause of the decisive military defeat. Despite his evil display ofcharacter during the battle, Tryon had his own surgeons treat the woundedRegulators (the entire battle has been summarized from source #11). The Regulators attempt to secure reform in local government by forceapparently failed completely. The Regulators were compelled to retreat from society andlive life in the wilderness. Many migrated, some going to Tennessee and downinto the Mississippi River Valley. Others followed Daniel Boones trail intoKentucky. In fact, by 1772, just one year later, about 1,500 of the formerRegulators left North Carolina (12). The importance of the Battle of Alamance and its proper place in Americanhistory have been topics of discussion not only in North Carolina, but acrossthe country.I gathered this fact from the area from which my sources came. I noticed that the efforts of the Regulators is very similar to that of thecolonists efforts to gain independence, only on a much smaller scale.TheWar of Regulation should be regarded as one of the primary thrusts of NorthCarolinas role in the Revolutionary War. Because of the research I havedone I am encouraged to find out more about the history of North Carolina. The Battle of Alamance should be covered in every American history course simply because it illustrates the desire for independence many colonists had during this time period. Endnotes1.
